Sumners Scholars Volunteer at TAFB

Students at food bank

Texas Wesleyan University Sumners Scholars began a semester of service by volunteering at the Tarrant Area Food Bank distribution headquarters in Fort Worth on Friday, January 26.

Sumners Scholars have pledged to volunteer two Fridays each month throughout the semester as their community service project for the 2024 Spring term.

The Sumners Scholarship not only provides $6,000 each semester during a student's junior and senior years, but also offers students the opportunity to attend special conferences and activities, such as the Texas Tribune Festival, held each September in Austin. For more information about the Sumners Scholarship, visit txwes.edu/academics/sumners.  Applications for the Fall 2024 cohort are due February 23, 2024.
