Here at Texas Wesleyan, our students are what we value most. Unfortunately, these challenging times have created significant and unforeseen financial burdens for many students.

Each semester, hundreds of Texas Wesleyan students pay their tuition through jobs they have in the community. With COVID-19, many of our students’ jobs have been eliminated, or are at risk of being eliminated, leaving them with little to no income to pay their tuition. With unexpected expenses and loss of income, students are worried about paying bills, like tuition, now more than ever.

Joseph Laws, class of 2021, is a non-traditional student who has been affected by the ongoing pandemic. A professional musician, Joseph relies on performances at restaurants and bars for a majority of his income. With a reduction in income and a family to support, he is forced to make many tough decisions.

Caitlin Sumstine, class of 2023 and member of the Gold Line dance team, is independently supporting herself and her education. Without a place to go, she is currently still living in the dorms, even though a majority of students have moved out due to COVID-19. Caitlin says that living in the dorm with her friends “made my experience at Texas Wesleyan more like home because it became my home. Now all of my friends have vacated their rooms, and it’s lonely.” She is currently working two jobs and has found herself in a time of uncertainty because of the pandemic.

We are committed to ensuring that our students realize their dream of earning a university degree. If you would like to help our students complete the semester by assisting with payment of tuition, fees, room and board and other financial expenses, please make your gift online today. Thank you!
