As part of the new Bernice Coulter Art Studio gallery website, along with the schedule of art exhibitions and other activities, you can now see the art that comprises Texas Wesleyan's permanent art collection.

For a long time, these works of art were Texas Wesleyan's best-kept secret. They may have been placed in storage rooms, in closets or just ignored by passersby. It has taken years of detective work, scavenging and research by Professor Kit Hall, some of her students, and the ever-vigilant crews in Facilities to bring this collection to the light of day. Word has gotten around that when a work of art is found by staff or faculty, Professor Hall is called.

Over the past 12 years, she has discovered works by Salvador Dali, Georges Rouault, Blanche McVeigh and Kelly Fearing. These have been found in the recesses of the University only to come out into the open to be documented, appraised, framed properly and placed for the TXWES community and visitors to enjoy. The collection is predominantly the result of donations from 'friends' of TXWES. You will be amazed and proud at the depth of this collection. From European Art to Early Texas Art to Remingtons and Russels you can begin to enjoy your own hunt to locate and enjoy viewing these works. With the new University gallery, we will now have centralized a place to show these works from time to time, and you have the opportunity to appreciate them for yourself.

Take this opportunity to visit the Wesleyan Permanent Art Collection website. Now you can begin discovering all the great art for yourself online and begin your own hunt to see these works up close and personal.
