Graduate Programs of Nurse Anesthesia Professor Paul Austin CRNA, Ph.D., has been selected as the John F. Garde Researcher of the Year Award recipient. He will be honored by his peers and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist at their national meeting in August.

GPNA Director Debra Maloy, CRNA, said Austin's contribution to the profession of nurse anesthesia and mentorship of students provides a strong foundation for Texas Wesleyan's Nurse Anesthesia Program.

“We are all very proud of Dr. Austin,” she said. “He and Dr. Ric Rodriguez and John Martin (former director) worked very hard to put together one of the first Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice programs in the nation.

“This award represents well deserved national recognition of the talent and dedication that Dr. Austin continues to display for Texas Wesleyan and the practice of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.”
