Art Liz Trosper Tom MotleyJoin us for a Mitchell-Reed Community of Learners Lecture at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio.  Artists Liz Trosper and Tom Motley will be present to discuss their current art exhibit fluid dialog, which “presents a unique conversation” between the two friends.  Brown bag lunches are welcome; light refreshments will be provided by the Office of the Provost.

From the artist statements

Liz Trosper: "My work casts a critical eye toward the legacy of modern and contemporary painting. Using wordplay and feminist critique, I mine formalism for its discriminatory attitudes toward women. I also hope to honor the rich tradition of experimentation, technological exploration and media integration within the discourse of painting."

Tom Motley: “Shortly after seeking me out for some 'traditional' painting instruction, Liz Trosper dragged me kicking and screaming into a digital art discussion. For a couple of years, we have critiqued each other’s' work, and collaborated in a visual exchange, a reflective dialog about mutual interests in drawing, printmaking, and painting."
