Texas Wesleyan University announced two new Board of Trustees members Friday.

Sharon Millians and Kelly Allen Gray will join the Board, which governs the longest-serving higher education institution in Fort Worth.

“We are exceptionally pleased to have these board members join us,” President Frederick G. Slabach said. “Their time and expertise is very important to the future of Texas Wesleyan.”

Kelly Allen Gray is Fort Worth City Council Member for District 8. Allen Gray is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and Texas A&M-Commerce. She served as the executive director of the United Riverside Rebuilding Corporation, which helped neighbors gain assistance in weatherizing their homes, obtaining home repairs and, in some cases, building their first homes. She has been an active volunteer serving on numerous community boards.

Sharon Millians is an attorney who serves as Co-Chair of the Real Estate section of Kelly, Hart, Hallman. Both of her sons attended Wesleyan, and one is a graduate. She has recently served as the Board Chair of the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation, which is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the United States.

Additionally, Millians served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Center of Tarrant County, Inc., and on the Board of Directors of the Child Study Center. She has also served on the board of the Chiapas Project, a global microfinance initiative to support women in poverty.

At the same board meeting, Texas Wesleyan University announced that Beverly Volkman Powell ’92 MBA ’99 was elected Board of Trustees Chairman, Dan Boulware ’68 Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and John R. Murphey ’71 as Secretary of the Board.
