Renovations modernize Armstrong residence halls

07.21.2014 | By:
New magnolia trees were planted at Armstrong halls at Texas Wesleyan, as part of the campus improvement projects and 2020 Vision.

After several months of construction projects, the Armstrong residence halls are ready to reopen doors to students, faculty and staff.

Upgrade projects began last spring with the installation of a new fire alarm system, new landscaping and the remodeling of kitchen and study areas.

The renovations also include extensive electrical upgrades, fresh paint, new lighting fixtures and a new air handler. The projects were made possible by James C. Armstrong (the son for whom the dorms were first named).

"Many of the renovations are behind the scenes; students will probably notice the new vanity areas and showers first," Brian Franks, executive director of facilities operations, said.

The campus improvement projects, along with the Rosedale Renaissance project, are part of President Frederick G. Slabach’s 2020 Strategic Vision that clearly identifies the University’s mission and goals.

Vanity areas received new electrical switch plates, lighting fixtures, cabinets, faucets and countertops.
