11.23.2011 | By:

Texas Wesleyan students, faculty and staff come together to create a better, values-centered community year-round, and no time is that more evident than during the holiday season. Here’s a list of some of the many giving opportunities this year.

The United Way Campaign Kicks Off Texas Wesleyan’s United Way campaign will take place Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 9. Check your campus mail for your envelope! Let’s get 100 percent participation from faculty and staff this year!

Take a break from the day, get questions answered from a United Way representative, pick up a United Way goodie, and turn in your pledge form at Texas Wesleyan’s United Way Kick-Off Reception.

The music department is holding a toy drive from now until the end of finals, with all donations going to the Lena Pope Home for their foster care program. If you would like to bring a toy, take it to the second floor of the music department and put it under the Christmas tree. The department is also conducting a food drive with all donations going to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

Meals On Wheels Giving Tree 2011
The West Library will again take part in the Meals on Wheels Giving Tree. Some requested items include: scarves, flashlights and dry pet food. To participate, select a star from the Christmas tree on the Library’s first floor, purchase the gift on the card and attach the tag to the gift. Then, bring the unwrapped gift to the Circulation Desk by Wednesday, Dec. 7. If you prefer to donate directly, pre-addressed donation envelopes are available. For more information, call Sheri Parker at 817-531-4821.

The Bear Hunt is On!
The School of Arts & Letters is collecting new toy bears for the Fort Worth Police Department. Officers share bears with children in crisis situations. Deliver bears to the Dean’s Office, located in PUMC 256. Call Elizabeth Hennessey at 817-531-4900 for more information.

Rambler Pet Food and Supplies Drive
Donate to The Rambler's Pet Food and Supplies Drive. Items being collected are: dog and cat food, blankets, bowls and more. All donations go to the SPCA on Lancaster.
