The National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations sponsors the annual Qatar Exchange Fellowship/Malone Fellowship for Model Arab League alumni. Abbey Borghee, junior political science/pre-law major and SGA vice president, is one of 25 students in the nation to be selected for the program, which lasts for approximately one calendar year.

The Fellowship consists of a pre-departure preparation period (Oct.-Nov. 2014), study visit to Qatar (approx. Nov. 28-Dec. 6, 2014) and fellowship year (Jan.-Dec. 2015) where participants engage in a variety of activities in order to share their new knowledge of Qatar with the American public, multiplying the educational impact of the program. The study visit is expense-paid.

Abbey Borghee has participated in the Model Arab League program since her freshman year. Last year, as a sophomore, she received the award for outstanding delegation in her council. She will be Texas Wesleyan's head delegate going into competition in the spring.

Ibrahim Salih, Ph.D., faculty advisor for Texas Wesleyan’s Model Arab League program, is one of the five faculty members from the U.S. that has been selected for the Malone Fellowship.
