Texas Wesleyan's Best Music Students Perform March 1

02.21.2013 | By:

Texas Wesleyan University’s highest-achieving music students will share their vocal and instrumental talents during the President’s Honors Concert. From nearly 30 students auditioning, a three-person independent panel of judges selected twelve performers.

The evening will feature operatic excerpts, art songs, and instrumental performances written by legendary composers ranging from Strauss and Puccini to Bernstein and Gershwin.

The event is hosted by Texas Wesleyan President Frederick G. Slabach and Melany Neilson along with John and Kathy Murphey. Elizabeth Alexander, Ph.D., associate professor of history and coordinator of Secondary Education Program in History, will act as master of ceremonies for the evening.

Now in its 17th year, The President’s Honors Concert is performed in the Nicholas Martin Performance Hall on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University. More than 100 years old, Martin Hall first served as Polytechnic Methodist Church. Renovated twice, Martin Hall remains true to its esteemed Sanguinet and Staats design and is praised by musicians for its wonderful acoustics.

The President’s Honors Concert is the evening of Friday, March 1. Performance begins at 7:30, with a reception immediately following.  Admission is free and open to the public. Business attire preferred. Martin Hall is located at 1309 Wesleyan St., at the corner of E. Rosedale and Wesleyan, in Fort Worth, Texas.
