The Morton Fitness Center: A Discussion from Aaron Whaley

11.04.2010 | By:

The countdown has begun. With only a few weeks remaining before the grand unveiling of the new Jack and Jo Willa Morton Fitness Center at Texas Wesleyan, Aaron Whaley, student activity coordinator, sat down to answer some questions about the new Fitness Center. In the first of a three-part series, Whaley discusses hours, locker rooms and more.

The excitement over the Morton Fitness Center is building. What is the status of the Center?
The furniture has arrived, and everything is starting to take shape! We’re working on the televisions—as well as doing some basic touch-ups on the paint. It’s very impressive!

What hours will the Morton have?
The hours have not been finalized yet, but the center will be open in the morning and early evening. We’re expecting to open at 7 a.m., and we might close between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.—but that hasn’t been finalized yet.

What about locker rooms and towels? Will they be available for Center users?
Yes, there will be lockers that will be available for rent, and there will also be lockers available for daily use. The daily lockers are free—but you will have to provide your own lock. Towels will be available as well.

Will the Morton be open during the summer?
Yes! We will absolutely be open during the summer!

Check back next week for part two of our interview with Whaley, where we will discuss new equipment and more. Be sure to attend the Morton Fitness Center Ribbon Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the Center. There will be free food and drinks, t-shirts, prizes and health information.
