The Engaging Educator Award goes to professors who go above and beyond to engage their students with research and the community.

President Frederick G. Slabach made two more stops around campus to honor the next recipients of the Engaging Educator Award - Professors Christopher Ohan, Thomas Bell.

The Engaging Educator Award is for educators at Texas Wesleyan who go above and beyond to deliver the “Smaller. Smarter.” promise to our students.

Christopher Ohan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History

Dr. Ohan is recognized for going above and beyond to engage with his students in and out of the classroom. Ohan, along with Dr. Taylor-Matthews, just returned from taking a group of four students to New Orleans to compete at the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society conference. He also took a group of students to a history workshop at SMU, where they were able to examine actual medieval manuscripts. Ohan also does a great job of preparing engaging and educational online video lectures and engaging hands-on history projects.

Thomas Bell, Ph.D., Professor of Business Administration

Dr. Bell makes it his practice to go above and beyond to prepare students for their professional careers by incorporating certification test prep in his classes. This is an extremely valuable tool for our students. At the end of several of his undergraduate and graduate courses, students can sit for IT certification exams. This is a great way for students to connect theory with practice, and show future employers that they have mastered these concepts!

Congratulations, educators!
