Texas Wesleyan has great amenities for students — small class sizes that give you the individual attention you deserve, plenty of ways to lead student groups and volunteer opportunities to help our community. But those aren’t the only things you get when you go Smaller. Smarter.

Discover free resources you have access to as a student — that’s right, free.

Career Services

No matter if you want to be a big boss in business, a chemist developing the next scientific breakthrough or an investigative journalist breaking news on the latest crime ring, our Career Services is here to help you land your dream job. From the moment you start at TXWES to long after you graduate, you’ll have access to free career help.

You can get a head start with Career Services as a first-year student. With Focus2, you discover how your interests, values, personality and skills can help you figure out your best fit career and the education you need to succeed. You can also talk to Career Services about what majors work best for you or get help discovering careers you may not even know about.

As you continue your college journey, Career Services can help you prepare for your future. Get free resume and cover letter evaluations, find jobs or internships and practice your interviewing skills.

Academic Success Center

Need a little help perfecting that paper? Or some advice on studying? The Academic Success Center (ASC) can help you succeed. After all, “success” is literally in its name.

The ASC can help undergraduates in multiple subjects — from math and science to business and psychology — and help graduate students with their writing assignments. You can schedule one-on-one tutoring with a tutor who specializes in a specific subject so you can get the help you need.

And if you need a little advice on how to prepare for tests, take better notes or balance your school-work-home life, the ASC’s workshops can help. Each fall and spring semester, the ASC provides free workshops designed to help you ace your classes. But you don’t have to wait for a workshop to get the support you need — you can make a one-on-one appointment with a support coordinator to get extra tips and advice.

If you want to explore a little on your own, check out the ASC’s study tips and resources. They’re completely free and can be just the thing you need to get that A+. You’ll find strategies in math, writing, test-taking, note-taking and more.

Free home games

Did you know you can attend any home game for free? That’s right! With over 20 sports teams — like football, basketball, table tennis and more — you have plenty of ways to cheer on the Rams. Grab your friends, put on that TXWES merch and head over to a game. Just show your student ID to get in for free!

Library

The West Library is much more than a perfect study spot. The library offers help finding sources for research and gives you free access to online resources — like websites to help you dig into different cultures, online software to help edit your grammar or gain access to things like business news or performances in a digital theatre.

If you’re in need of a computer, there are plenty of computers located on all three floors that are free for students to use. And if you need to print, you get 500 copies per semester at no charge.

If you need a quiet place to study, the library hosts several areas to settle in and focus. Study tables are located on every floor and study carrels with electrical outlets and private study rooms are on the second and third floors. If you want to do a group study, the rooms on the second floor offer larger rooms with tables and chairs for several students, while the third-floor rooms are for individual study. The third floor is also a designated quiet area, which allows you to have the best focus possible.

Fitness Center

Take a break from the books and hit the gym. As a student, you have free access to the Morton Fitness Center, which offers free weights, cardio equipment and classes. It also comes equipped with locker rooms to help you go from flexing those muscles in the gym to flexing that big brain in class.

Health & Counseling

At TXWES, we understand being healthy is important to getting a great education. That’s why we offer free nursing and counseling services to keep you feeling great.

In the Health Services office, located in West Village, you can get confidential assessments, vaccinations, minor first aid, over-the-counter medication and help with referrals to doctors' offices. Most services are free, but depending on the request, students may pay for some materials. Just talk to the nurse about your options!

The on-campus counseling center is run by our Graduate Counseling Department. All students, including online and distance learners, have access to free personal counseling. You can see someone in person or online to get help with things in your marriage, family, school, relationships and more. Counselors can also provide LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy, scan for depression, treat eating disorders and assist in crisis intervention. The center can’t prescribe medications but can refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist if needed.

Food Pantry

The TXWES Food Pantry aims to help provide food for the TXWES community, regardless of financial status. If you forgot your breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just need a snack in between classes, visit the food pantry on the first floor of the Polytechnic United Methodist Church on campus.

You can also donate to the pantry or volunteer to help run it. Donations and volunteers are a big part of providing this service to our community!

TXWES also offers other student support services, including funding for student groups, emergency assistance and more. We work hard to make sure you have access to what you need to have the best college experience. It’s all part of going Smaller. Smarter.
