Texas Wesleyan Spirit teams attended the National Cheer and Dance Varsity Spirit Camps in July on the SMU campus. After two days of vigorous learning, training and competition, TXWES students were recognized for their skills at the final showcase.
The Texas Wesleyan Cheerleaders placed second in their division, were awarded two NCA Spirit Sticks, received three Superior Blue Ribbon ratings and were awarded a bid to the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida this April.
"Not only did NCA help us with new skills and tricks, but they gave us a better understanding of our job, not only as cheerleaders, but as ambassadors of the university and how to carry ourselves as such, " Terrance Davis, cheer coach, said.
The Texas Wesleyan Gold Line Dancers received an NDA Spirit Stick, a Superior Blue Ribbon rating and were awarded a bid to the NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida this April. Arlyssa Moaning and Kayla Karnes were recognized and given the honor to compete as All-American Dancers. Kayla Karnes received an award for being a collegiate All-American Dancer.
"I am so proud of the Gold Line and their showing at camp! They are growing in this community of dancers and thriving," Emily Snow, director of the Gold Line Dancers, said.
TXWES Cheer and Dance have opened a Fall 2019 audition.
