Texas Wesleyan is committed to providing a safe and inclusive campus for all of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. We’re a diverse campus and dedicated to helping all of our students thrive. It’s a big part of what makes smaller, smarter.
In congruence with this, the Division of Student Affairs and the Liberal Studies Department have partnered to invite LGBT rights activists and partners Leslie McMurray and Katie Sprinkle to campus during free period on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Lou's Place to share their thoughts and suggestions on how to support inclusion and diversity at TXWES.
McMurray is a contributing columnist to the Dallas Voice, has appeared on NBC and been published in the New York Times. She also serves on the Dallas Mayor's LGBT Taskforce and the steering committee for the Allan Ross Texas Freedom Parade (Dallas Pride). McMurray also spent 33 years in morning radio, having been on-air in markets from L.A., Dallas, Houston and Atlanta to Jackson, Wyoming, Harrisburg, Kansas City and Sacramento.
Sprinkle, who is currently operating her private law practice after serving 15 years as a public defender, is currently one of the only lawyers in DFW providing assistance and guidance to transgender individuals who wish to have their name and gender markers corrected on legal documents. She also holds a seat on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and has been featured on the front page of the Dallas Morning News twice in recent months.
Texas Wesleyan is your home and our home. Please join us during free period on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Lou's Place to help us keep our commitment to perpetuating a safe campus for all.
