Methodist Scholarships

‌‌‌Texas Wesleyan University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and receives funding from The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation, and conferences located in Texas to support scholarship programs for Texas Wesleyan students.

United Methodist Scholarship

  • Amount: Up to $1,000
  • Who: Methodist students must be active members (minimum of one year prior to applying for the scholarship) of a recognized United Methodist Church. The application for this scholarship will ask for your Methodist Church to certify that you have been an active member of the Church.
  • The application deadline is August 1, 2024.

John Wesley Scholar (Matching Scholarship)

  • Amount: Up to $2,500
  • Who: Methodist students must be active members (minimum of one year prior to applying for the scholarship) of a recognized United Methodist Church. The application for this scholarship will ask for your Methodist Church to certify that you have been an active member of the Church.
  • Other Criteria: The John Wesley Scholars Award is a matching award. Texas Wesleyan University will match only if the Methodist church agrees to provide financial support to the student. If the church declines to support the student financially, Texas Wesleyan University will not provide any funds. Texas Wesleyan University will match the scholarship provided to full-time (12 credits or more) undergraduate students up to $2,500 annually. This means you may receive up to $5,000.
  • The application deadline is August 1, 2024.

Clergy and Dependent Scholarship

  • Amount: Up to $4,000
  • Who: Methodist students must be active members (minimum of one year prior to applying for the scholarship) of a recognized United Methodist Church. The application for this scholarship will ask for your Methodist Church to certify that you have been an active member of the Church.
  • Other Criteria: Texas Wesleyan offers this scholarship for up to $4,000, based on full-time enrollment (12 credit hours or more) to United Methodist Clergy or their dependents each academic year.
  • The application deadline is August 1, 2024.
